King-fisher

A king in his kingdom Pietro Aretino

A solitary Collared Kingfisher (Todiramphus chloris) perches on a frangipani tree, with watchful eyes, it glances around, weary of a human being following closely behind it.

Kingfishers are kings in their own craft, skillfully swooping into waters, never failing to bring out a fish. Almost haughtily, they sit on a perch nearby and relish the fresh meal.

  1. Haha! I can totally sympathize with the kingfisher’s weariness… actually the collared kingfisher is more insectivorous than pescivorous; I’ve often observed it swooping into the grass for a yummy insect meal.

    1. That’s why it was probably in this park, looking around for insects 🙂 They’re pretty much city birds now, eating fish, insects, or whatever they find!
