Sky Gazing

I stumbled upon this picture of the beautiful, cloudy sky as I browsed through my files. I remember while taking this picture I was looking at the sky in awe of Mother Nature, realizing how small I was compared to the vastness of the universe. You feel so free when you’re sky gazing- it’s a time to just let your thoughts run wild as you watch new cloud patterns form & old ones dissolve and roll by you.

  1. What a lovely picture, Lavanya! I love cloud gazing too…and am amazed every day by the poetry, art and impermanence of Nature. I borrow and share this poem – the Manifesto of the Cloud Appreciation Society (Yes..there is such a society for cloud lovers..I was surprised to discover!!). Love and hugs! Mom.

WE BELIEVE that clouds are unjustly maligned
and that life would be immeasurably poorer without them.

We think that they are Nature’s poetry,
and the most egalitarian of her displays, since
everyone can have a fantastic view of them.

We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it.
Life would be dull if we had to look up at
    cloudless monotony day after day.

We seek to remind people that clouds are expressions of the
atmosphere’s moods, and can be read like those of
    a person’s countenance.

Clouds are so commonplace that their beauty is often overlooked.
They are for dreamers and their contemplation benefits the soul.
Indeed, all who consider the shapes they see in them will save
    on psychoanalysis bills.

And so we say to all who’ll listen:
Look up, marvel at the ephemeral beauty, and live life with your head in the clouds!

  2. I am so glad you look at the sky – so many people take no notice and they are missing out. Clouds are very beautiful. Lovely picture.

  3. What a lovely, ethereal photo. I think it is one of the most incredible things that our first instinct when we step outside is to look at the sky and dream. xx

    1. Thank you so much! Yes-it’s the most amazing thing to sky gaze and forget about everything for a moment 🙂
