Aloha readers! Today, I visited the famous Singapore Botanical Gardens. I’ve been there so many times that I’ve lost count! But it was only today that I really explored and discovered the true beauty of this garden. This 150 year old garden is filled with rich ancient heritage as well as diverse flora and fauna. Let me take you for a little tour through the trail I took in the Botanical Gardens. Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy!
I entered the Botanic gardens from the Tanglin Gate( near Gleneagles hospital). I was walking towards the white swan lake, when I saw a pond from the corner of eye. I took a the small path to see it closer, and saw many other paths leading to many trees behind the pond which were hidden. There were many dragonflies such as the Venus drive and blue dasher,and I also managed to see small tadpoles and fish swimming in the muddy pond. It was a very silent and lonely place, but was most unique and beautiful. It reminded me of the poem by Robert Frost, ” The Road not taken”! Here are some of the photos of the trees at the entrance as well as the dragonflies and plants from the pond.
After admiring the beautiful pond, I walked on until I reached the White Swan Lake. The landscape was breathtaking.. I looked into the lake to see some bright orange fish and some terrapins. There were also, ( of course) two lovely white swans.
As I walked on- I spotted some statues of swans. I looked closer to see some terrapins sun bathing and relaxing there! How funny 🙂 I looked at the sign boards to see ” Ginger garden”. I followed the path, and saw some beautiful flowers, trees, shrubs and even some cactus! I also saw this beautiful, romantic tree with yellow leaves, and a couple over there for a photo shoot! I also managed to spot some magpies, bulbuls and a squirrel!
After that, I sat down on my mat, drank some Snapple Pink Lemonade, and headed for home, satisfied and happy. The Singapore Botanical Garden is one of the best parks in Singapore, and is a must see attraction, even for locals who want to enjoy nature, and even tourists, as there are many facilities such as the restaurant, ” Food for thought”.
